Ed Sullivan Is Now Blogging

Posted by Aaron West at 11:24 AM in User Groups, Blogging

For those of you not "in the know," Ed Sullivan is the man behind the user group program, the Adobe Champion's program and more at Adobe. If it weren't for Ed and his hard work there wouldn't be the 300 plus Adobe user group's in the U.S. today.

Ed's now blogging alongside Jonathan Wall (Ed's boss) over at Jonathan's blog. You can check out his first post here:

Marking his 13th stop on the world-wide Scorpio tour, Ben Forta will be visiting Nashville, TN next Wednesday. This free event is open to the public and will take place May 9 at 7:00pm Central Time at Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace Plaza. The event is sponsored by the Nashville ColdFusion User Group and The Lampo Group, Inc. Ben will be discussing many details about the up and coming version of ColdFusion as well as demonstrating features.

As if hearing Ben speak on ColdFusion wasn't enough, the chance to win a copy of Scorpio and Flex Builder 2 w/charting should help. It has also been decided (this week) that every attendee will get a copy of Dave Ramsey's book The Total Money Makeover!

In order to plan the event we are encouraging everyone to register. Registration - as well as filling out a short Scorpio survey - are required in order to be eligible for the Scorpio and Flex Builder 2 w/charting software raffles.

As part of the Scorpio User Group Tour, Ben Forta will be speaking in Nashville on Wednesday, May 9, 2007. The time and location has not been decided; the Nashville ColdFusion User Group Web site will have all the up-to-date information.

Since this is such a huge event, the Nashville CF user group invites anyone in the surrounding cities, counties, and states to come hear Ben speak on the next major release of ColdFusion, code-named "Scorpio." If you've never had the opportunity to hear Ben in person and you aren't able to attend any conferences this year, this is your chance to gather your co-workers, friends, or whatever, and make the trip to Nashville.

In addition to hearing Ben speak you will also have the opportunity to win a copy of Scorpio and gain access to the pre-release Scorpio beta.

Here's the official blurb from the Nashville CFUG Web site:

Even before the release of the highly successful ColdFusion MX 7 two years ago, the ColdFusion team was already hard at work scheming, experimenting, planning, building, creating ... and the result is "Scorpio", the highly anticipated 8th major ColdFusion dition. Building on top of the powerful platform introduced in ColdFusion MX, and the solid feature set of ColdFusion MX 7, "Scorpio" piles on new features and technologies for developers, administrators, technical decision makers, and more. The official "Scorpio" release is scheduled for mid-2007, but you don't have to wait until then to see it for yourself. Ben Forta will be demoing lots of Scorpio throughout an extended user group tour in the spring, where attendees will get to see "Scorpio" in action, as well as gain access to the pre-release beta, and get the chance to win Adobe software. And since our user group is part of the Scorpio tour, plan on coming out for this special meeting!!

Below are some of the highlights. If you are interested in Spry you should check out this 93 minute presentation.

  • When to Use Spry and When to Use Flex
  • ColdFusion as an XML Generator for Spry Data

Last night, Josh Adams spoke to the Nashville ColdFusion User Group on Ajax and CFML development.
