New ColdFusion Technotes Released

Posted by Aaron West at 10:58 PM in ColdFusion

Macromedia has released several new technotes over the last couple of days. I've provided a synopsis of the technotes below; for a full review, please see the individual links to each technote on Macromedia's Web site.

Verity compatibility issue between CF5 and CFMX (Full Technote)
In ColdFusion 5 you could pass a value as the key when deleting from a Verity collection. This behavior, in ColdFusion MX, will no longer work. The quick solution is to pass the key as a column name while also using the query attribute of the CFINDEX tag. See the technote for further information and specific syntax.

CFMX 7: 500 null error when running ColdFusion pages (Full Technote)
ColdFusion MX 7 pages may fail with a 500 NULL error shown in the Web browser. When this occurs, the ColdFusion server.log file may contain an entry indicating: An error has ocurred when reading/writing /lib/ This error can be caused when the configuration file, located in the cf_root\lib directory, contains zero bytes or has been deleted.

CFMX 7.0.1: Configuring IIS 6.0 w/ NTLM for Flash forms (Full Technote)
When ColdFusion MX 7 is configured with IIS NTLM authentication, Flash forms do not display. See the technote for solution information.

Strong Encryption Support in CFMX 7 (Full Technote)
This technote is chock full of information related to the new encryption options in ColdFusion MX 7. A lot has changed with the Encrypt() and Decrypt() functions including new support for additional algorithms like AES (Advanced Encryption Standard). Check this technote out if you're interested in the new features and changes in ColdFusion's strong encryption support. Lots of neat stuff in this regard.

    "500 NULL" in coldfusion

    I changed 1 of the bottom "false or true" settings in the adminconfig.xml in cf_root/lib/ folder and it works.
    It cost me 3 days of hard work.
    Don't ask me which one I changed, did so many changes and back but this is the file that works:(replace content of that file by this)
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

    P.S. on mac G5 PPC with CF 7.02 as standard and developpers mode.

    Have fun and hope to save you a lot of work : )
